Family Updates!

This past weekend was a HUGE weekend for both of our younger brothers.  My brother, Matthew, graduated with his doctorate in physical therapy.  He has worked so hard for this and it will be fun to watch him grow into the profession.  We decided not to bring Noah...Scott actually stayed home with him.  Noah and getting teeth has not been a fun experience and the week up to graduation was full of disasters that involved Scott and I washing sheets, cleaning carpet, etc!  We decided to keep Noah at home...and it ended up being a good idea for him!  Graduation was a lot of fun...but not the place for a toddler!  And the ride was great (Aunt, Uncle and the grandparents)...but two and a half hours down and the same back...not a fun experience for a toddler!  Scott and I have high hopes for Noah (and future kiddos) about education.  He has a lot of great people to look up to and will have a lot of support along the way.   When I got home...our house had Christmas lights up!  I was a little shocked...we didn't have an outlet outside to hang them...I guess Scott and his dad installed one.  What a great surprise and Noah LOVES lights:)  Scott wanted to give it to me as a Christmas present (he is just the best...).  Then on Sunday...Scott and I became "Aunt and Uncle" and Noah has a cousin!  Megan and Jake has a baby girl!  She was due later this week...so a great surprise for them!  We are headed down to see the entire family on their first day home.  We are so excited for them and the journey ahead.  While Noah hasn't felt the best this week either (fever, etc)...he has had a lot of visitors this week!  Monday night we had some former co-workers over and last night we had my graduate school cohort over.  It has been a great week to catch up with friends.  Something Scott and I have been transitioning into the world of children and having couple friends in the same stage is a challenge.  Most of our college friends have moved away or are not married or are married with no kids.  Not that that is bad...but we are in a different stage.  We (maybe me more so...) have struggled to meet others in our same position.  We have some great neighbors and I hope that relationship grows...met a few people in Kindermusik (WHICH I LOVE and Noah LOVES:), but I miss that just hanging out or chatting right beside me.  I can still call or Facebook...but it is different.  This was something no one told us about when we became parents!  But...I think as always...I struggle with change and transitions...so this is just one more of those.  We have great friends (whether they are near or far) and family and just have to keep at it to meet people.  I will post some pictures of Kindermusik...we were going back and forth about doing it again in the Spring...but decided today to do it again!  Noah loves music and just has a riot:)  It is kind of pricey...but the joy from Noah is worth every penny.  I can't wait to also post pictures from the Holidays soon.  Until next time...

The many adventures of Noah!

We had a great weekend being snowed in!  It was super cold and lots of snow...so we snuggled up and had a riot!  I have read a lot about not letting your kids watch TV and Scott and I have thought a lot about this topic.  We just got rid of cable TV and thought this might be a time to phase out more TV.  We love to watch movies...but are not huge TV watchers...but we knew this would be an adjustment.  Noah doesn't sit and watch it...he tends to be a playing machine and ignores it...but the research talks about limiting toddler's language development.  On Saturday we hardly turned on the TV...and Noah jabbered even more!  SUCCESS:)  So...we have decided to cut out TV as much as possible for Noah.  Noah can say Mama (and not just when he is tired!!!), Dada, Papa (Grandpa), cheese, ball, cracker, more, and WHOA:)  We are working on Grandma:)  One of my favorite parts of the day is when Scott, Noah and I are playing upstairs in the hallway...chasing and giggling:)  Scott is a master tickler...and Noah loves every minute of it.  He is a very happy little guy...and can make anyone smile.  Well...enough for now!

The Connolly's venture out into the blogging world...

Well...I am jumping onto the bandwagon...but I wanted to record out little life in a way that Noah (and future kids...!!) can have some day.  I have never been good at keeping a diary or a journal...I am hoping that the ability to type it out will make me do this!  Scott has no idea I am doing this...surprise honey!  This is going to be short as I am just starting...so more on us next time!
